## Is the RayNeo X3 Pro worth it? Battery life vs price

Going by the reviews, not for everyday use yet. At $1,299 it costs more than twice the Even G2 ($599) and well above the Meta Ray-Ban Display ($799), and reviewers keep coming back to the same trade-offs: a small battery, no app store and a limited assistant. It makes sense if you want binocular, full-color AR to experiment or build with. For glasses you wear all day, the G2 runs about two days per its maker.

- TechRadar scored it 3 out of 5: technically impressive but far from easy to use, with the 245 mAh battery and the price as its biggest obstacles. ([techradar.com](https://www.techradar.com/pro/rayneo-x3-pro-ai-ar-smart-glasses-review) · checked 2026-10-23)
- PhoneArena rated it 6.5 and measured about 40 minutes of active use, which it called discouragingly short. A full charge also takes about 40 minutes. ([phonearena.com](https://www.phonearena.com/reviews/rayneo-x3-pro-review-a-taste-of-the-ar-future_id7797) · checked 2026-10-23)
- Gizmodo got roughly 3.5 to 4 hours of light, passive use against the 5 hours it says RayNeo claims, called it "very expensive for the level of functionality", and said to definitely not buy it. ([gizmodo.com](https://gizmodo.com/rayneo-x3-pro-review-these-ar-glasses-may-haunt-my-dreams-2000699219) · checked 2026-10-23)
- 9to5Toys got about 3 hours playing music and advises a power bank if you record often or use navigation. ([9to5toys.com](https://9to5toys.com/2026/01/27/tested-rayneo-x3-pro-glasses/) · checked 2026-10-23)
- RayNeo's own estimates, from a 1 September 2026 blog post, are about 1 to 2 hours of mixed use and about 3 hours of music, with video recording at 30 to 36 minutes. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/blogs/news/best-smart-glasses-ai-assistant-rayneo-40-guide) · checked 2026-10-23)

## Apps, developers and the built-in assistant

There is no app store yet. The glasses run an Android-based system with a small set of built-in apps, and RayNeo offers a developer kit. Whether you can add other Android apps is disputed: reviewers sideloaded some with hours of effort, but RayNeo told Gizmodo the consumer version doesn't support direct installation.

### Do they run third-party apps, and on what platform?

- They run RayNeo AIOS, an Android-based system with a built-in Android virtual environment. RayNeo names TikTok, Instagram and WhatsApp as examples and says some apps may need manual installation. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/products/rayneo-x3-pro) · checked 2026-10-23)
- RayNeo lists built-in tools: teleprompter, music player, camera and navigation. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/products/rayneo-x3-pro) · checked 2026-10-23)
- PhoneArena lists the preinstalled apps as camera, to-do, music control, translation, maps and phone. ([phonearena.com](https://www.phonearena.com/reviews/rayneo-x3-pro-review-a-taste-of-the-ar-future_id7797) · checked 2026-10-23)
- 9to5Toys called the preinstalled lineup very thin. ([9to5toys.com](https://9to5toys.com/2026/01/27/tested-rayneo-x3-pro-glasses/) · checked 2026-10-23)
- There is no app store. Other Android apps need sideloading over Android Debug Bridge, which 9to5Toys called far too cumbersome and which took hours. ([9to5toys.com](https://9to5toys.com/2026/01/27/tested-rayneo-x3-pro-glasses/) · checked 2026-10-23)
- PhoneArena sideloaded the Play Store (through Gbox), Chrome and YouTube Music, and says those apps aren't designed for the glasses. ([phonearena.com](https://www.phonearena.com/reviews/rayneo-x3-pro-review-a-taste-of-the-ar-future_id7797) · checked 2026-10-23)
- RayNeo told Gizmodo that "the user version of the glasses does not support the direct installation of third-party apps", and put the lack of apps down to security restrictions and compatibility considerations. ([gizmodo.com](https://gizmodo.com/rayneo-x3-pro-review-these-ar-glasses-may-haunt-my-dreams-2000699219) · checked 2026-10-23)

### Can developers build for them?

- RayNeo's page describes a Creator Mode with 6DoF and SLAM that works with its Unity ARDK and Android ARDK, and links a Developer Portal and an Innovator Program. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/products/rayneo-x3-pro) · checked 2026-10-23)
- A developer-ecosystem summary (Extentos, page dated 24 August 2026) says apps are ordinary Android APKs installed over USB-C with ADB, that consumer firmware needs ADB unlocked first, and that there is no self-serve store, only a submission to RayNeo that needs its sign-off. ([extentos.com](https://extentos.com/docs/ecosystem/platforms/rayneo) · checked 2026-10-23)
- The same summary rates the SDK as early and China-first. ([extentos.com](https://extentos.com/docs/ecosystem/platforms/rayneo) · checked 2026-10-23)

### Gemini: what it can do

- RayNeo says it runs Google Gemini (listed as Gemini 2.5), woken with "Hey RayNeo", and shows answers in your view. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/products/rayneo-x3-pro) · checked 2026-10-23)
- RayNeo says it handles to-dos, memos, schedules and meeting summaries hands-free. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/products/rayneo-x3-pro) · checked 2026-10-23)
- Gemini Live is one tap from the home screen and can use video to see what you see. ([phonearena.com](https://www.phonearena.com/reviews/rayneo-x3-pro-review-a-taste-of-the-ar-future_id7797) · checked 2026-10-23)
- RayNeo says real-time translation covers about 14 languages, with synced audio and on-screen captions, and that Meeting Notes records after the wake word and produces a summary. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/blogs/news/best-smart-glasses-ai-assistant-rayneo-40-guide) · checked 2026-10-23)

### Gemini: what it can't do

- It isn't connected to the rest of the system. PhoneArena: "Gemini Live isn't integrated with anything else in the system." ([phonearena.com](https://www.phonearena.com/reviews/rayneo-x3-pro-review-a-taste-of-the-ar-future_id7797) · checked 2026-10-23)
- Gizmodo asked it about his to-do items and was told RayNeo couldn't do that. It seemed unaware of reminders he had set, and Gizmodo's cons list says "Gemini felt useless". ([gizmodo.com](https://gizmodo.com/rayneo-x3-pro-review-these-ar-glasses-may-haunt-my-dreams-2000699219) · checked 2026-10-23)
- 9to5Toys found it severely limited, with "RayNeo can't do that" coming up too often even for basic to-do tasks, and noticeable delays in translation and Gemini responses. ([9to5toys.com](https://9to5toys.com/2026/01/27/tested-rayneo-x3-pro-glasses/) · checked 2026-10-23)
- RayNeo's page says Gemini may answer a question without passing the action to another app, such as navigation. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/products/rayneo-x3-pro) · checked 2026-10-23)
- Developers can't extend it. The same Extentos summary says the assistant is closed (Gemini on Western firmware, Qwen in China) with no documented third-party hook. ([extentos.com](https://extentos.com/docs/ecosystem/platforms/rayneo) · checked 2026-10-23)
- RayNeo says reminders, memos and schedules appear on the display but don't sync automatically to your phone's calendar or reminders apps. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/blogs/news/best-smart-glasses-ai-assistant-rayneo-40-guide) · checked 2026-10-23)
- RayNeo says Gemini's reasoning and translation need an internet connection, from the glasses' Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot. The wake word works offline, but the assistant can't answer until a connection returns. ([rayneo.com](https://www.rayneo.com/blogs/news/best-smart-glasses-ai-assistant-rayneo-40-guide) · checked 2026-10-23)

RayNeo's developer pages weren't readable when this was checked (its Open Platform and Qualcomm's X3 Pro developer page both need a browser), so the build details come from a secondary summary. Two of the reviews cited are from around launch (December 2025 and January 2026), and RayNeo's own blog (1 September 2026) lists no app store or software update, so the review findings are not confirmed against current software.
